RiverFest Endurance Swim and Relay
August 2o, 2010
This is the opening event of RiverFest 2010, Portland’s celebration of the Willamette River. This event started because of a conversation about how the river has directly affected people’s lives. I was told that as a young man courting my grandmother, my Grandfather Ken McLarty, swam this distance down the river from his home in West Linn to her home on SE Morrison and 12th Street. just to see her.
